Eight suspects from Jinack Kajatta have been arraigned before the Essau Magistrate Court for alleged involvement in irregular migration and human trafficking offences.

Police said the accused appeared in court on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle backway networks in Jinack and surrounding communities.

The court granted each accused bail of D500,000 with three Gambian sureties and ordered the deposit of valid national ID cards.

The suspects were also directed to surrender their travel documents, cooperate fully with police investigations, and refrain from engaging in any backway-related activities.

Police said enforcement operations against irregular migration remain active and urged the public to report suspicious movements linked to human trafficking.
