A heavy downpour on Saturday has left parts of Essau District Hospital flooded, forcing some caregivers to seek refuge on concrete benches in the hospital’s waiting area.

A footage shared by Jollof News shows two men in casual clothing packing soaked cardboard boxes in one of the hospital rooms and attempting to drain out the floodwaters.

The incident has raised concerns over the well-being of both patients and staff, with fears of potential outbreaks of waterborne diseases.

The situation has sparked outrage among locals, especially those who were at the hospital during the flooding.

Authorities have come under heavy criticism for allowing such an incident to occur despite repeated promises to improve healthcare services.

As of now, the hospital management and relevant health authorities have yet to issue a statement regarding the flooding.
