Former Vice President Dr Isatou Touray will launch her presidential bid in Brikama SSP today, marking a formal entry into the 2026 race ahead of the December 5 general election.
The event, which is currently underway, has drawn supporters and party officials, although early indications from the venue suggest a relatively modest turnout compared to expectations for a high-profile political launch.
Dr Touray’s return to frontline politics comes after years in public service and subsequent engagement in civil society work with GAMCOTRAP.

She is contesting under the slogan “Progress not promise”, with the broom adopted as her political symbol.
Her re-entry adds fresh momentum to an increasingly competitive political landscape as parties intensify mobilisation across the country ahead of the polls.
