At least two people, including the driver of a 7-seater commercial vehicle, have been confirmed dead following a serious road traffic accident on Jabang Road this morning.

According to preliminary information, the crash occurred when a private vehicle attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided with the oncoming 7-seater commercial car.

The impact left the commercial vehicle badly damaged and caused injuries to several passengers who were travelling in it at the time of the incident.

Witnesses at the scene said the collision happened suddenly, leaving motorists and nearby residents scrambling to provide assistance before emergency services arrived. Some passengers were reportedly trapped briefly in the vehicle as members of the public rushed to help rescue them.

All passengers in the commercial vehicle were immediately taken to hospital for medical attention. The condition of the injured victims has not yet been officially disclosed, but sources said some sustained serious injuries.

The accident has renewed public concern over speeding and dangerous overtaking along the Jabang Road corridor, which is frequently used by commercial drivers and private motorists.

Police are expected to provide further updates as investigations continue.
