The head of the Food Safety and Quality Authority (FSQA) has issued a bold challenge, saying he will resign if the public can prove that expired products are being sold at Serekunda Market.
Speaking to reporters, Momodou Bah urged both the public and traders to come forward with evidence, stressing that any verified claims would compel him to step down.
Bah emphasised that the agency is committed to protecting consumers, warning that anyone caught selling expired goods would face strict action.
“I dare you: if you see an expired product, please report it to us. I have said this over and over, if you find any expired product in Serekunda Market, bring it to my attention, and I will resign,” he said.
A junction at Serekunda Market has long been suspected as a site where expired goods are sold. However, Mr Bah defended the location, clarifying that it is a brand name and should not be mistaken as a spot for selling expired products.
