The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) has dismissed seven personnel following an internal investigation into serious breaches of operational conduct and military discipline.
The action comes after the seizure of two speed boats and a yacht earlier this year, linked to activities that authorities say compromised national security and the integrity of naval operations.
Investigators uncovered evidence of coordinated misconduct, including the unauthorised use of vessels, suspicious communications, and the receipt of monetary rewards and gifts, including Tobaski rams.

The personnel were also found to have aided a clandestine network operating under the guise of Altima Sea Sport Limited, currently under scrutiny for activities inconsistent with its declared purpose.
The dismissed personnel are:
Lieutenant Abba Nyassi
Fleet Chief Petty Officer (FCPO) Musa Dampha
Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Ismaila Jobe
Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Musa Jammeh
Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Alagie Secka
Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Ebou Marong
Leading Seaman (LS) Lamin DK Sanneh
Captain Kemo Kanuteh, GAF spokesperson, said the dismissed personnel posed a “clear and unacceptable risk to operational security and mission integrity.”
The GAF emphasised its zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and collusion, noting that the dismissals demonstrate its commitment to safeguarding discipline and public trust.
The Armed Forces reaffirmed its duty to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of The Gambia while maintaining the highest standards of military discipline.
