With just seven days to go before the 13th Edition of the West Africa Deaf Football Tournament kicks off in Nigeria from August 18–31, 2025, the Gambia National Deaf Football Team is still awaiting government approval to participate.

Team officials have expressed concern over the delay, urging the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council to take urgent action.

Lamin Ceesay, the president stressed that representing the country should be treated as a matter of national interest and called on the public to rally behind the team.
