The Gambia Ferry Services (GFS) has announced the temporary withdrawal of the Kunta Kinteh ferry from service.

In a statement, the GFS said the ferry will be out of operation from Sunday, November 2 to Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

“This planned withdrawal is in line with management’s maintenance policy aimed at ensuring safety, hygiene, and service reliability. During this period, thorough checks will be conducted, and the ferry will undergo a complete repainting,” the statement said.

GFS added that the Kanilai ferry will remain fully operational to continue serving passengers between Banjul and Barra.
