The Gambia’s U-18 girls’ beach volleyball team, featuring Hoja Njie and Mariama Sambou, fell 2–0 to Canada in their opening match of the FIVB U-18 Beach Volleyball World Championship in Doha, Qatar.

Canada dominated the contest, winning the first set 21–11 and the second 21–6 to seal a straight-sets victory in Pool H.

Njie and Sambou will aim to bounce back in their next group match as they continue their campaign on the world stage.
