The Gambia’s Hoja Njie and Mariama Sambou have advanced to the Round of 16 at the ongoing FIVB U-18 Beach Volleyball World Championship in Doha, Qatar.

The Gambian pair defeated DR Congo 2–0 in straight sets, winning 21–11 and 21–18 in a commanding display of teamwork and determination.

Their victory secures The Gambia’s place in the knockout stage — another proud milestone for the country in international beach volleyball.

Njie and Sambou will now prepare for their Round of 16 clash as they continue their pursuit of glory in Doha.

Meanwhile, The Gambia boys’ team suffered a 2–0 defeat against Chile in their second Pool H match.

The South Americans took control early, winning the first set 21–17 before sealing victory 21–10 in the second.

Despite the setback, Bunja Bakary Kanyi and Abdallah Jallow will look to bounce back as they prepare for their final group match later today.
