The Gambia government has said it is deeply concerned by the shooting of a Gambian man by the German Police while announcing that it has launched an investigation into the tragic incident.

Lamin Touray, 46, was allegedly shot and killed in the city of Nienburg by the German Police.

The German police said the 46-year-old man had been threatening his girlfriend with a knife.

In a statement, The Gambia government said that: “the Ministry of foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident and will provide full details in due course.”
