The Gambia Immigration Department (GID) has recorded a revenue collection of D584,414,478.30 between January and October 2025, marking a 112% increase compared with D275,783,860.00 collected during the same period in 2024.

The figure for the first ten months has already surpassed the total revenue collected in 2024, which stood at D420,219,024.00, representing a 39% year-on-year increase, with the full-year total for 2025 still pending.

Revenue was generated through the Gambia Biometric Identification System, immigration fees, and the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS).

GID said the growth reflects improved financial management, strengthened border controls, faster documentation processes, and enhanced operational planning.

The department has also expanded access to national documents for Gambians at home and abroad and is advancing the rollout of the ECOWAS National Biometric Identity Card (ENBIC) to ease identification and promote regional integration.

Despite these achievements, GID continues to face resource constraints, mobility challenges, and legislative gaps affecting immigration management and border governance.

The department has urged local authorities, landlords, and communities to support efforts to curb irregular migration and enforce aliens registration.

Under Director General Ebrima Mboob, GID reaffirmed its commitment to closing revenue leakages, embracing technology, and building the capacity of immigration staff to sustain an efficient and service-driven institution.
