The Gambia has maintained its position as having the most powerful passport in West Africa, according to the latest Henley Passport Index.

The index ranks The Gambia 73rd globally out of 199 countries, ahead of regional neighbours Senegal and Nigeria. Gambian passport holders can travel to at least 70 countries visa-free or with visa-on-arrival access.

These destinations include nations across Africa, the Caribbean, Asia and the Americas.

The Henley Passport Index is regarded as a key global ranking for assessing the mobility and strength of passports worldwide.

Although The Gambia dropped one place from last year, it still ranks higher than countries such as India, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia and Rwanda.
