
The Judiciary of The Gambia will host the 20th Triennial Conference of the Commonwealth Magistrates’ and Judges’ Association (CMJA) from 21 to 26 September 2025.
The high-level gathering will bring together more than 25 Chief Justices, along with over 150 Supreme Court and High Court judges, magistrates, and legal scholars from across the Commonwealth. Delegates will discuss judicial independence, access to justice, and emerging trends under the theme “Innovation in Judicial Practice: Embracing Change for a Better Future.”
The CMJA, an international body representing judicial officers across the Commonwealth, promotes legal education, judicial independence, and knowledge-sharing. The Banjul conference will provide a platform for collaboration, exchange of ideas, and best practices in judicial reform.
In a statement, the Gambian Judiciary reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and reform, describing the event as a milestone in the country’s leadership in regional legal cooperation. Final preparations are underway ahead of the arrival of delegates.
