The Gambia’s final FIFA World Cup qualifier against Seychelles will go ahead today as scheduled, despite the Scorpions’ refusal to train since arriving in Mauritius on Sunday.
The players had staged a strike over unpaid bonuses and what they described as poor logistical arrangements.
However, the squad is now expected to leave their hotel this morning to honour the fixture, according to sports journalist Foday Manneh.
Following the match, there is growing anticipation that the players may collectively push for long-term reforms, with calls intensifying for better welfare standards and the chance to once again host competitive matches on home soil.
