Yaya Sonko, migration and human rights activist based in Baden-Württemberg Germany, has ripped into both the government and opposition parties for keeping silent about the deportation of Gambians living in Europe.

Sonko told Gambian youths to boycott all political events until their concerns are addressed.

At least more than 100 Gambian migrants have been deported from Europe since 2017.

He said: “our government is not doing any efforts to stop the culture of deportation between Gambia and EU but equally our opposition political parties too are not giving any support.

“This year, already three chartered deportations flights landed in The Gambia. And the EU have announced the new deportation dates for 4th and 5th chartered deportation flights.

“My advice to youths is to boycott all political activities and events in and outside The Gambia until they all take youths concerns with seriousness. Both Gambia government and political parties doing only lip service, nothing more nothing less.”

“Thousands of Gambians youths future and lives are under threat and no single party leadership would say you don’t know or hear about it. You all failed the youth.

“Political parties should not only take government to tasks on elections issues but every single concerns by citizens should be a challenge. You all keep muted because non of your sons and daughters are involved,” he added.
