Gambian forward Muhamadou Kanteh has officially extended his stay at Shakhtar Donetsk after signing a new five-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 2031.

The Ukrainian giants moved to secure the future of the 19-year-old following a sensational season at youth level, during which he emerged as one of the club’s brightest prospects.

Kanteh enjoyed a historic campaign with Shakhtar U19 during the 2025/26 season, helping the side clinch the U19 league title and finish as the competition’s leading scorer. The Gambian striker found the net 28 times in 28 matches, setting a new scoring record in the Ukrainian youth championship.

Shakhtar highlighted Kanteh’s rapid development since arriving at the club’s academy in 2024, with the new agreement underlining their belief in his long-term future.

The contract extension represents another major milestone for the young Gambian as he edges closer to making his mark at the senior level.
