Gambians looking to holiday abroad can now count the Maldives as a destination they can travel to without visa. 

This is because governments of The Gambia government and the Maldives have signed a bilateral agreement on mutual agreement exemption of visa requirements for their citizens. 

The agreement allows for the exemption of visas for single or multiple entry, exit or transit for both countries’ nationals, for a period of 30 days.

The bilateral agreement was signed by both countries ambassadors in Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Mohamed Khaleel and his Gambian counter Ambassador Omar Gibril Sallah. 

The signing ceremony was held at the Embassy of the Maldives in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Sunday (11 June). 

Ambassador Sallah conveyed the Government of The Gambia’s commitment to work with the Maldives on areas of mutual interest, to further strengthen relationship between the two countries.

Ambassador Mohamed Khaleel expressed his gratitude to the Government of The Gambia for its commitment towards enhancing the existing ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. 

He also conveyed hope that the signing of this agreement will increase avenues for further engagement and people-to-people contact between the Maldives and The Gambia.
