A Ghanaian senior education official has been implicated in a scandal at The Gambia Immigration Department after dozens of fake school results were uncovered during the 2025 recruitment drive.

Investigators say the man, a long-time civil servant in Gambia’s education sector, was at the heart of the scheme that saw around 40 WASSCE certificates falsified.

More than 100 other applicants have been asked to prove their results are genuine.

He was called to the GID Training School in Tanji for questioning, where he allegedly admitted involvement before being released pending further investigation.

The GID has now implemented stricter verification channels with schools and WAEC to prevent further fraud. Officials warned that anyone caught submitting fake results will be immediately rejected, highlighting the seriousness of the crackdown.
