The Gambia Immigration Department (GID) Border Patrol Unit in the North Bank Region has intercepted 26 would-be migrants at Fass Omar Saho.

The interception took place on 10 August 2026 as part of an operation by the Migration Management Unit (MMU) in Barra.

The group comprised 26 Guinean nationals — 15 females and 11 males — including six minors.

Following the interception, the migrants were handed over to the MMU in Barra for processing and further investigation in line with established procedures.

The GID said the operation highlights its continued efforts to combat irregular migration and safeguard the country’s borders, while promoting safe, orderly and regular migration and discouraging dangerous migration journeys.
