Foni Berefet MP, Amie Colley, has dismissed allegations of promiscuity levelled against her by former Gambian President Yahya Jammeh, saying bluntly: “I won’t respond to him.”
The relationship between Colley and Jammeh has been tense ever since she abandoned the APRC group supporting the former leader to join President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party.
Jammeh, who has been living in exile in Equatorial Guinea since losing the 2016 elections to Barrow, has in recent times hinted at a possible return to The Gambia.
He had accused Colley of promiscuity, claiming she routinely “cuts birthday cakes with men and puts them in their mouths.”

Gambiana contacted the National Assembly today for her reaction. Colley, who regards Jammeh as an uncle, chose not to engage in a public spat.
She told Gambiana: “I won’t respond to him. He is an elderly man and a former head of state. Even the Prophet was accused. I am clean.”
