A group of young people in Jabang destroyed the screens of vehicles used by drifters, forcing the drivers to flee on foot.
A video circulating online shows youths stoning the cars, smashing windows as the drifters escaped.
One youth can be heard saying: “Enough of this now.” Another added: “Be careful before you hurt yourselves. They ran away.”
The action comes amid rising concerns over dangerous drifting in the area, which poses serious risks to public safety.
A few years ago, a man from Bakau was reportedly killed in a drifting accident involving a teenager who was arrested but later released. The victim’s family continues to seek justice.
Under Gambian law, drifting is illegal and punishable by up to five years in prison, a fine of D2,000, or both.
