Kemo Bojang, the former Youth Secretary General of the United Democratic Party (UDP), has announced his resignation, ending a political journey that began when he joined the party as a teenager.
Bojang, who rose through the ranks to become the first president of the UDP Students’ Wing, said in his resignation letter that the decision was not made out of “haste or bitterness” but after deep reflection.
“I came into the United Democratic Party as a boy, young, energetic, and full of dreams, and today I leave as a man who has been moulded, tested, and nurtured within the walls of this great party,” he wrote.
He expressed gratitude to party leader Ousainou Darboe, describing him as a mentor whose “belief in me has been my compass, and his leadership my greatest school.”

Bojang, a youth figure in the party, stressed that his departure does not break the bonds he has formed with his colleagues.
“To my colleagues and the family I’ve made through the party, be assured that you are still family and nothing will change that,” he said.
The resignation comes amid growing turbulence within the UDP, with several high-profile figures either sidelined or walking away from the party.
While Bojang has yet to disclose his next political move, his exit is likely to fuel speculation about shifting allegiances ahead of the 2026 general elections.
“God bless The Gambia and the United Democratic Party,” he concluded.
