Fatou Jali Kuyateh, wife of Gambian kora maestro Jaliba Kuyateh, has given birth to twins, a boy and a girl. Sadly, the baby girl passed away shortly after birth.

In a message shared on social media, Fatou expressed her grief and gratitude:

“Alhamduillah. Allah has blessed us with twins, a boy and a girl. Sadly, the girl passed away after birth. Before you were conceived, I wanted you.

“Before you were born, I loved you. Before you were here an hour, I would die for you. This is the miracle of love. Every good and perfect gift is from above.”

She added that she and her husband were thankful for the prayers and support they received, and confirmed that she and her surviving baby are doing well.

“I and my husband, Mr Jaliba Kuyateh, are saying a big thank you to everyone who reached out, sent prayers, and wished us good luck. Allah has finally answered your prayers. Much love to you all,” she said.
