Lawyer L.K. Mboge has withdrawn from representing Amie Bojang in the State’s appeal against the acquittal of the Bojang siblings, citing her decision to grant a media interview despite his advice not to speak publicly while the matter remained before the courts.

The withdrawal was announced during Monday’s sitting of the Court of Appeal before a three-member panel comprising Justice N. Salla-Wadda, Justice Basiru V.P. Mahoney and Justice Amina Saho-Ceesay.

The court adjourned the appeal to 20 October 2026 to give Amie Bojang time to secure new legal representation.

At the start of the proceedings, the court noted Mboge’s formal Notice of Withdrawal. Asked whether she had been informed, Amie Bojang confirmed that she received a letter from his chambers last week.

In the notice dated 24 June 2026, lawyer Mboge explained that he had advised his client not to grant any media interviews while the case was pending.

“I advised her not to grant an interview to the media in this case, but she did not heed my advice. To my utter surprise, when I saw her on Kerr Fatou, I had no choice but to file this Notice of Withdrawal to protect my name and my reputation,” the notice states.

The State is appealing a High Court judgment delivered by Justice Jaiteh on 30 March 2026, which acquitted and discharged Amie Bojang and her brother, Ousainou Bojang, who had been charged with the murder of two police officers.

Speaking to Kexx News after the hearing, Mboge said Amie Bojang had initially sought his advice before the interview and assured him that she would not participate. However, he said he later discovered that the interview had been published online, prompting him to withdraw from the case.
