Mai Ahmed Fatty has claimed that the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) will secure victory in the 2026 presidential election “by force.”

Fatty, who recently aligned his Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) with the NPP, made the remarks at a gathering attended by President Adama Barrow in the Upper River Region.

He warned opposition parties that the 2026 presidential race would not be an easy contest.

“Whatever it means for them, it means a hundred times more for us because we are the ones governing today. They want to unseat us, then they should prepare themselves, because it will not be easy, and they will lose,” Fatty said.

He also dismissed the motives of those opposing the president, accusing them of acting out of self-interest.

“Those against President Barrow are doing it for their own benefit. Let us call them ‘Fankun Fankun Kafo’ (a group of individuals driven by selfish agendas),” he added.

Fatty urged those seeking political progress to align themselves with the NPP-led alliance, declaring that the ruling party’s 2026 campaign would be a success.
