The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has confirmed it will appeal sanctions imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following the Africa Cup of Nations Final between Morocco and Senegal on 18 January 2026.
In a statement, the FRMF said the disciplinary measures handed down by CAF do not reflect the seriousness of the incidents, which included Senegal’s players withdrawing from the pitch, a pitch invasion by fans, and crowd disturbances.
The federation said its position was formally communicated to the CAF president and that the appeal is intended to safeguard Morocco’s rights under the regulations.
It added that relevant CAF statutes, including Articles 82 and 84 relating to teams abandoning matches, should have been fully applied.
The FRMF stressed that it is pursuing the appeal through the proper legal channels to ensure the gravity of the events is adequately addressed.
