Ousainou Bojang, who is standing trial over the fatal shooting of three police officers, has claimed that investigators told him they had CCTV footage showing him carrying out the attack, but said he challenged them to release the footage publicly.
Speaking in an interview with Kerr Fatou, Bojang alleged that after he was taken from a confinement wing to an office during the investigation, a senior police officer told him that closed-circuit television footage showed him at the scene wearing a kaftan and carrying a gun.
Bojang said he immediately rejected the allegation and challenged investigators to make the footage public if it existed.
“Bring that video out. Let all the citizens see it. If it’s me, there should not be much talk, just kill me straight away. If you have the video, let the whole country see it,” he said.
Bojang also claimed that he was accused of being affiliated with the United Democratic Party (UDP), an allegation he denied.
According to him, he has never attended a political rally, voted in an election or held a voter’s card.
He further alleged that investigators later informed him that one of the police officers wounded in the shooting had survived.
Bojang said he requested that the surviving officer be brought in to identify him if he was indeed the gunman, but claimed the request was refused.
He also said he is considering legal action over aspects of his arrest, detention and the allegations made against him.
