The long-simmering rivalry between Gambian reggae heavyweights DJ Pisces and DJ Fireman erupted once again on Saturday night after Pisces used his much-anticipated return to the decks to take fresh aim at his longtime adversary.

Performing before a packed crowd at Ali Baba Garden in Senegambia, DJ Pisces, whose real name is Mustapha Manjang, made his first major appearance as a club DJ in five years and wasted little time reminding fans that his feud with Fireman is far from over.

The veteran entertainer had stepped away from the DJ scene to focus on food entrepreneurship, but his comeback performance quickly turned into a platform for settling old scores.

For years, Pisces and Fireman -real name Njaga Jarju – have been locked in one of Gambian showbiz’s fiercest rivalries. Their feud, which spans more than a decade, has seen both men exchange barbs over everything from music selection and professional credibility to international exposure and influence in the reggae and dancehall scene.

During his years away from the decks, Fireman remained active and repeatedly took indirect shots at Pisces in media interviews. While he rarely mentioned his rival by name, many fans had little doubt about who the comments were directed at.

Fireman once mocked Pisces for abandoning DJing to sell “domoda”, while also claiming that a proposed DJ clash between them never happened because his rival was unwilling to face him on stage.

But on Saturday night, Pisces appeared determined to remind critics that he still considers himself a heavyweight in the industry.

“Anytime I want to fly, I fly, because I started flying when I was 19 years old,” he told the cheering crowd.

In what many interpreted as a direct jab at Fireman, he added: “I didn’t fly when I get old.”
The remarks instantly sent social media into overdrive, with supporters of both camps declaring victory and reviving one of Gambian entertainment’s most enduring rivalries.

The latest exchange also reopens an old wound between the pair. Years ago, Pisces famously belittled Fireman for never having travelled abroad, boasting that he was an “international DJ.” Fireman later turned the tables by embarking on regular European tours and using that success to counter Pisces’ claims.

Now, with Pisces back in the spotlight and Fireman scheduled to headline a reggae show in Senegambia, fans are waiting to see whether Fire House’s boss will answer the challenge.
