The Gambia Police Force (GPF) says it has arrested and confined to barracks a police officer seen in a viral social media video allegedly making threats and behaving unprofessionally.

In a statement, the police said the officer’s conduct was inconsistent with the standards of professionalism, discipline and decorum expected of members of the Force.

The GPF said immediate action had been taken, with the officer now facing internal disciplinary proceedings while investigations into the incident continue.

“The behaviour captured in the video is unacceptable and does not reflect the values, ethics or professional standards of The Gambia Police Force,” the statement said.

The police stressed that they remain committed to professionalism, discipline and accountability and would not tolerate any conduct that undermines public confidence in law enforcement.
