Police in Manjai are investigating an attempted robbery at a forex bureau opposite the Speed Fuel Station on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, between 1pm and 2pm.

According to preliminary findings from the Gambia Police Force, a male suspect entered the bureau under the guise of exchanging foreign currency before allegedly producing a knife and attempting to rob the premises.

The cashier sustained an injury to her finger while resisting the attack.

A member of the public intervened after hearing the cashier’s distress, disarmed the suspect and escorted him to Manjai Police Station with the weapon.

The victim was treated at Kanifing General Hospital and later discharged.

Crime scene investigators and CID officers visited the scene, secured exhibits and opened a formal investigation.

The suspect has been charged and remains in police custody pending further legal action. Police said no cash was stolen.
