President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has rewarded Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations–winning squad with CFA75 million each and a 1,500-square-metre plot of land on the Petite Côte.
The announcement was made as the head of state received the triumphant Lions at an official homecoming ceremony celebrating their latest continental success.

President Faye praised the team’s discipline, sacrifice and fighting spirit, saying the AFCON triumph reaffirmed Senegal’s place at the summit of African football while fostering pride and unity across the nation.

He stressed that sport remains a key driver of national cohesion and international recognition, adding that the rewards acknowledge the joy the team brought to millions of Senegalese at home and in the diaspora.

The players and head coach Pape Thiaw were also honoured with state distinctions, having been elevated to the rank of Commander within the National Order of the Lion.

The highest distinction was awarded to Abdoulaye Fall, president of the Senegalese Football Federation, in recognition of his leadership during the title-winning campaign.

Players and officials thanked the President for the gesture, describing it as a strong signal of state support for football and a lasting investment in those who carried the national flag to continental glory.
