The Gambia regulatory body, PURA, has given JAH Oil Company a fortnight to settle its fines or face criminal prosecution against the company.

PURA this week fined JAH Oil nearly one million dalasi for “illegally constructing” petrol stations around the country.

In a strongly worded letter to the company, PURA said: “The fine shall become due and payable within fourteen days from the date of receiving this notice from the Authority as provided for in Section 15 (2) of the Enforcement Regulations 2010.”

“Failure to comply shall result in the commencement of criminal prosecution against JAH OIL.”

The regulator has also ordered JAH Oil “to stop all illegal construction in Wellingara and Kairaba Avenue forthwith and comply with the requirements of the Petroleum Products Service Stations Regulations 2018.”
