The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare has received a generous donation from Qatar Charity, led by Mustafa Essatte, the country director in The Gambia, aimed at supporting needy and vulnerable families across the country during the holy month of Ramadan and the Christian season of Lent.
The Honourable Minister, Fatou Kinteh, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Qatar Charity for their humanitarian gesture, noting that such support complements government efforts to improve the welfare of vulnerable communities.

The donation comprised 130 assorted food packages, each containing 50 kilograms of rice (two 25kg bags), five litres of vegetable oil, sugar, tomato paste, tea bags, and vermicelli.
Distribution of the packages was as follows: 70 to families in the Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), 30 to beneficiaries in the North Bank Region, and 30 to families in the West Coast Region.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mariatou Jassey expressed gratitude to both the Ministry and Qatar Charity, highlighting that the support would go a long way in assisting their families during this period.
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts by international partners and the Gambian government to provide social support to vulnerable communities, particularly during periods of religious observance.
