Real de Banjul’s hopes of reaching the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League group stages suffered a setback after a 2-0 loss to AS FAR in the first leg of the preliminary round at the Stade Moulay Abdellah in Rabat, Morocco.

The Moroccan giants took control of the tie with a two-goal cushion, leaving the Gambian champions needing a big response in the return leg.

Real de Banjul must secure at least a 3-0 victory at home to overturn the deficit and advance on aggregate.

Anything less than a convincing win will see the capital club bow out of the competition at the first hurdle.
