Region Two East have successfully defended their crown, emerging champions of the 26th edition of the Primary Schools Inter Regional Independence Day Athletics Competition.

The reigning champions delivered another commanding performance across track and field events, collecting a massive 358 points to secure their third consecutive title.

Their neighbours, Region Two West, mounted a strong challenge and finished second with 309 points, ensuring a proud showing for the West Coast Region.

Region Five South claimed third place with 219 points after an impressive campaign.

Region Five North finished fourth with 197 points, followed by Region One in fifth with 185 points.

Region Six placed sixth with 184 points, while Regions Three and Four ended the competition joint seventh with 175 points each.

The 26th edition of the championship attracted several high profile dignitaries, including the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Habibatou Drame, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Bakary Y. Badjie, the Acting Executive Director of the National Sports Council, Mamoud L. Jawla, and Presidential Adviser Momodou Sabally, among others.
