Suspected criminals fled and abandoned weapons after police launched a night security patrol across Latriya, Jabang and Daru–Busumbala, as authorities intensified efforts to curb crime and maintain public order.

The overnight operation, carried out was led by Sergeant Badjie of the Jabang Anti-Crime Unit, with support from officers of the Latriya Police Station, including Corporal Faye.

Police said officers responded to a night programme in Latriya when individuals believed to be criminals took to their heels on sighting the patrol team, leaving behind weapons at the scene.

The recovered items were immediately secured as part of ongoing police investigations.

The Gambia Police Force says the patrol was aimed at boosting police visibility, deterring criminal activity, and reassuring residents of its continued commitment to community safety.

Police have indicated that similar patrols will continue across communities as part of broader crime-prevention strategies.
