Thieves broke into the home of Gambiana reporter Adama Makasuba in the early hours of Tuesday, making away with a television set, a bag containing a laptop, D6,000 in cash and his National ID card.

The incident has been reported to the Abuko Police Station, where officers have opened an investigation.

Speaking after the burglary, Makasuba said he discovered the break-in when he woke up for dawn prayers.

“When I woke up this morning to pray, I found one of the doors to my house ajar. My television set from the living room had been taken. In another room, my bag containing my laptop, D6,000 in cash and my National ID card was also missing,” he said.

Makasuba appealed to members of the public to report any information that could assist in recovering the stolen items or identifying those responsible.

He also called for greater collective efforts to combat theft and other forms of crime.
Police are continuing investigations into the incident.
