Three men including a police officer have been charged with treason for their alleged involvement in last year’s coup attempt against Barrow government.

The accused persons are Mustapha Jabbi, Saikou Jawara and the police officer Bakary Jabbi.

They deny any involvement in the alleged coup, as they were arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

However, the accused persons were remanded at the Mile Two Prison and the case transferred to the High Court.

A police bill of indictment seen by Gambiana stated that the accused persons sometimes in October and December 2022 within Banjul and diverse places in the country, conspired among themselves and failed to dispatch the information to overthrow a democratically elected President Barrow to a minister, magistrate, a police officer or a member of the armed forces.

The bill of indictment accused the trio of being informed by the alleged ring leader to overthrow a democratically elected President Barrow which they failed to dispatch.
