The Gambia Transport Union has told Gambia-Senegal to respect the agreement signed on free movement of goods and services.

The union was reacting to key agreements signed during the third edition of the Senegal-Gambia presidential council meeting held in Banjul.

Omar Ceesay, president of The Gambia transport union said in a statement: “we call on The Government of the Gambia, the Government of Senegal, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure all the Agreements and Recommendations are fully implemented. The General Transport Union is fully committed to continuing to collaborate with the governments and other relevant authorities.”

The union leadership described the agreements as significant to transport operators in both countries.

“We applaud our Government and relevant stakeholders for their commitment to promoting the free movement of goods and services between the two countries,” the statement added.
