The Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) has lost two senior officials who unexpectedly resigned from the party.
The party’s Auditor General and Regional Desk Officer, Alhagie H. Sowe, and former National Treasurer, Lamin Bojang, both stepped down on Saturday.
Sowe notified the party of his resignation in a letter dated 18 October 2025, describing the decision as “deeply personal and difficult” after years of dedicated service.
“The GDC has been more than a political organisation to me. It has been a family, a movement, and a platform through which I have strived to serve my people with integrity and purpose,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lamin Bojang has defected to the ruling National People’s Party (NPP).
In a video statement recorded at President Adama Barrow’s residence in Mankamang Kunda, Bojang expressed his readiness to support the NPP and the president’s vision for national development.
“Let us join the president for the development of the country and lay a foundation for our children and grandchildren so they do not face difficulties,” he said.
