United Democratic Party (UDP) has filed a lawsuit at the Supreme Court to challenge the appointment of six of President Adama Barrow’s advisers.

The advisers include Dembo Bojang, Lamin Cham, Dodou Sanno, Henry Gomez, Lamin K Saidy, and Sulayman Camara.

The opposition party is challenging the constitutionality of the advisers appointment.

The party said in a statement that their appointments “contravene Section 170 of the 1997 Constitution.”

However, most of these advisers were appointed before the fallout of President Adama Barrow and United Democratic Party leader Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, which resulted in Barrow sacking him along with some other cabinet ministers in 2019.
