The Gambia U-17 national team, now officially known as the Scorplings, secured a commanding 4–0 victory over Liberia U-17 in Bamako to win after a disappointing defeat against Guinea-Bissau in the WAFU A U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Ahmed Njundu Kanyi gave the Scorplings an early lead after a brilliant team move before Alagie Baba Leigh doubled the advantage in the 36th minute with a powerful strike.
Captain Alieu Drammeh, from Barcelona’s famous La Masia Academy, calmly converted a penalty in the 61st minute to make it 3–0.
Deep into stoppage time, Drammeh turned provider, setting up Modou Loum to complete the rout and seal an impressive win for the young Gambians.
